On the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo 95, UK-Italy: Lessons in Sustainable Fashion will be held at the prestigious headquarters of the British Institute in Florence. The conference, organised by the Department for International Trade - British Consulate General in Milan will host some of the most important players in the fashion retail scene who will discuss the collaboration between Italy and the United Kingdom for ethical and sustainable fashion; there will be speakers from Burberry, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood and also some British designers such as Christopher Raeburn and Bav Tailor to demonstrate the ongoing cooperation between the Italian and British fashion industries and the common commitment to sustainable and ethical fashion. The conference will be hosted by Orsola de Castro, co-founder of Fashion Revolution.

At the start of the award show, 2016 DfT winner, Edda Gimnes, presented her new collection in her first solo fashion show. Among the prominent guests were, among others, international model Kenya Kinski, the newly married Victoria Swarovski as well as German model and actress Susan Hoecke.

Stella McCartney is launching a new eco lingerie line
Stella McCartney is launching her first eco friendly lingerie line called "Stella" next month. It is designed with colorful day-to-day bras and underwear that are going to make women feel more comfortable, sexy and fashionable. "It has to fit, function and do its job", commented the British designer.
The line includes five different bra shapes, including a molded underwire, a plunge version and a strapless and seamless style. The colours are electric blue, python, pink and black. The lingerie will all be made from organic cotton and recycled metals.

Stella McCartney created Glow-in-the-dark clothing range, part of her Fall/Winter 2010 Adidas sportswear collection. The line will be placed within the best-selling running category of sportswear.

The designer has launched her own collection of eyewear in a collaboration with Luxottica and believes it is important for the accessory to give off a sense of fun.

The fashion designer - who is a strict vegetarian and refuses to use animal
hides in her collections - admits making attractive, non-leather shoes can
be hard, but it determined to make her designs as desirable as possible.
She said: "It is 70 per cent more expensive for us to make non-leather shoes. Thank God we have a profitable business and can afford to do it. But ultimately, I'm a fashion designer and I see it as my job to create a desirable pair of boots, whether they are made from recycled cotton or a cardboard box. I find the technical challenge thrilling."

"Choose a statement piece by wearing the prints or embroidered pieces alone to give them breathing space."
